Stonegear Warriors

Quite common in any expedition fleet, Stonegear Warriors form the central spearhead of landing parties and exploration groups. Well suited to a variety of tasks and challenges, they are integral to both commercial and military operations.

Originally trained to work difficult mines and high risk salvage operations, they quickly adapted to hostile environments. As mining fleets moved ever deeper into equally dangerous and lucrative areas, Stonegear Warriors have taken on a more offensive role. Clearing pockets of stubborn enemies, defending sub-space ore processing plants and neutralizing threats are only some of their many tasks.

Each squad of Stonegear Warriors is led by a Foreman. These grizzled veterans have been through the worst the galaxy has to offer and been spit out on the other side. Known to be extremely direct, foul-mouthed and ready to scrap, they are critical to keeping younger warriors in line. After each victory, they add a thick ring to their beards and likewise after a loss they cut one off. The rings have integral sonic sub-emitters that rumble on command. When the most experienced Foremen charge towards their enemies, their many rings make the very air in front of them vibrate with an ear deafening roar that puts fear into even the most stalwart defenders.

Equipped with a vast array of high tech, yet utilitarian weaponry, Stonegear Warriors are equally capable of tearing through enemy armor as they are through bedrock. Guns such as Concentrator Pistols and Highwall Particle Blasters are powered by small refined Slimarium crystals and fire dense energy bolts of superheated vapor. These bolts quickly turn armor into molten slag and then immediately undergo deposition where the dense vapor turns into solid matter for maximum impact potential.

Each Stonegear warrior is given a power distribution harness which connects via bio-integration ports to their lower back. This harness can distribute energy to external weaponry, armor, or directly to the warrior themselves. Power is usually supplied through a modular rear mounted pack system developed by the Autotech Scriveners. These look like basic backpacks from the outside but contain a wide selection of cooling vents, power transfer coils, internal shielded storage and Silmarium power connectors. They also have the ability to quickly be swapped out for mission specific sensor array units or shield projectors as needed

While they may not be as heavily armored as the elite Drugir Vaultguard or as deadly as Slimarium bio-integrates, these all-around warriors are critical to any successful mission and are highly regarded by the Stonegear Enclaves fleet command.
